This is the third year in succession that this Programme has been conducted for the students of TAFE College Seremban by Advanced Toastmaster Gold Nageswari Balasekaran under the umbrella of the Port Dickson Toastmasters Club.
The aim of the Programme is to develop the speaking and leadership skills of young people so as to help them meet the demands and challenges of today’s world.
The Programme is a workshop, conducted over 8 sessions, each lasting 1 ½ to 2 hours. Participants learn how to present a speech, how to conduct meetings, how to evaluate and develop effective listening skills. At the end of the sessions, they would have developed self-confidence and interpersonal communication skills that would be useful to them for the rest of their lives.
This year’s Programme was rather special for a number of reasons. For the 1st time we had a participant from the Automotive Department’s Skills Development Unit, Anbarasan Gopal, we had 2 foreign students – Shanka Tilan Wickrama Singhe ( from Sri Lanka ) and R.Mohammed Khalid Ali ( from Pondicherry, India ) - AND we had a female participant – Selvi Moganan.
The Programme climaxed on 27th June 2008 with a Certificate Presentation Ceremony for the successful participants under the auspice of the Principal of TAFE College Seremban Ms Vijayalakshmi Krishnan. The President of the Port Dickson Toastmasters Club Advanced Communicator Bronze Kat Lee Lan was at hand to present the certificates to the excited participants. The function ended with light refreshments for all.
